Specialty Shows

"The Indie Rock Show brings you bands on independent labels that are under the radar of mainstream, but not under the quality. These small bands have what it takes to play good music, just without the propaganda."

Indie Experts Dish It:

Is all Indie music that you play signed to a record label, or are some of them totally independent?
Just John: Most of the bands are signed to record labels, but they are small. They're called start-up labels and are meant to help Indie bands get signed by the bigger labels.
Kate: Some of it is. Example, we did an Indie Evolution of Blink-182 recently and they're obviously signed.

What is it that attracted you to this genre, opposed to others?
Just John: Being in different bands most of my life, I've played shows with a lot of other Indie bands. It's all the music that I've grown up with.
Kate: I like that it's different because independent labels give artists a lot of freedom and will sign bands you normally would not get a chance to hear otherwise. And a lot of it is sort of cute and upbeat.
Steve: A lot of unsigned or smaller bands aren't afraid to experiment. There is a lot of fresh, interesting and amazing sounds in the genre.

What are some of your favorite Indie Rock bands?
Just John: Gods Reflex, Counterfeit, Minus the Bear, Rx Bandits, The Felix Culpa.
Kate: The format, Spoon, Tiger Army.
Steve:
Saves the Day, The Get Up Kids, Brignt Eyes, Cursive...it's a long list.
